How this fast charging cost calculator works
This tool estimates how much a single DC fast charging session costs using a simple model:
- Energy delivered ≈ charger power (kW) × time (hours) × 0.90 efficiency factor.
- Total session cost = (energy delivered × price per kWh) + session fee + idle fee × idle minutes.
- Effective price per kWh = total cost ÷ energy delivered.
- Cost per 100 km / 100 miles is based on your EV’s energy consumption.
Real charging sessions are influenced by battery temperature, state of charge and the charging curve. This calculator uses a simplified model to give you a clear, easy-to-understand estimate for budgeting and comparison.
