How this electricity bill calculator works
Instead of guessing your electricity price from a tariff brochure, this calculator uses your real bill to find the effective price per kWh:
- Effective price per kWh = total bill amount ÷ total kWh used in that billing period (including taxes, fees and service charges).
- If you enter a fixed monthly fee, the tool can show a second value that removes this fixed fee to approximate the energy-only price per kWh.
- If you enter taxes & surcharges separately, the tool can also show a “before tax” price per kWh.
- When you enable the EV section, the calculator uses your effective price per kWh to estimate EV cost per 100 km / 100 miles and per month, based on your driving distance.
This makes it easier to compare home charging costs with public fast charging or with EV tariffs in other countries, using numbers taken directly from the bill you are actually paying.
